Doug Beezley Photography | Colorado Fall 2014 | Maroon Bells

Maroon Bells
Maroon Bells
Maroon Bells, near Aspen, is one of the most photographed locations in Colorado. Maybe, it's #1. Photographers from all over the world flock to the "Bells" every fall in hopes of capturing an exquisite image of those iconic mountains and lake. Here's what elements would be necessary to get "the shot": great sunrise with strong color in the scattered clouds, vibrant, lush aspen trees fully yellow and orange, no wind so the reflections are perfect, a dusting of fresh snow to accent the color of the aspen trees and the Maroon Bells themselves.

I've probably been to Maroon Bells a dozen times and those conditions continue to elude me and others. Here is what we saw this morning. It doesn't qualify as "the shot" but it's still beautiful and worth seeing.
