Mt. Rainier from Emmons Vista Trail +
Few mountains so dominate a landscape as does Mt. Rainier. One of the reasons for this dominance is you see virtually all of the mountain from sea level to summit. Mt. Rainier, at a summit elevation of 14,410, is 30 feet shy of Colorado's Mt. Elbert (second tallest mountain in the lower 48) but it seems much taller than Elbert because Elbert sits in a base elevation of around 10,000 while Rainier's base is only a few hundred feet above sea level. Nevertheless, it is magnificant and is so large it creates its own weather.
