Doug Beezley Photography | A Colorado Fall - 2011 | Yankee Girl Mine

Yankee Girl Mine
Yankee Girl Mine
Yankee Girl was founded in 1882 and quickly became one of the most productive mines in the San Juans bringing rich silver ore to the surface in unheard of quantity and quality. The success of the mine was a key to the rapid growth of the Red Mountain Mining District south of Ouray, CO. Red Mountain # 2 is in the background.

The photo shows the headhouse above the 1,050 foot vertical shaft.
