Lake Como
Lake Como
This is not the usual alpine lake - shallow and prone to winter kill. Lake Como doesn't seem large but it is 1,500 feet deep as measured by Colorado State University researchers with sonar bouys. The lake is a plugged volcanic vent and the source of the Uncompahgre River which flows into the Gunnison River at Delta, Colorado. The Gunnison then flows into the Colorado River at Grand Junction, Colorado. Notice the ice still on the lake and it's the third week of July.
