American Basin Columbines
American Basin Columbines
The Columbines in American Basin were everywhere, each clump in a slightly different shade of blue. We even found one clump of white Columbines - very unusual. The jagged ridged mountain dominating the backgroud is American Peak. American Peak is the 102nd tallest peak in Colorado at 13,806 and only received its name in 2005 making it one of the more recently named peaks in Colorado. Prior to it's naming, it was simply known as "Peak 13,806".
