Lake Fork of the Gunnison River +
The Lake Fork of the Gunnison River has its headwaters about a mile and a half up the basin. It flows eastward and foms Lake San Cristobal just outside Lake City. From there it continues northward to join the Gunnison - one of the great rivers of the West. Lake San Cristobal was formed as a result of a massive rock avalanche about 700 years ago daming the Lake Fork.
