First Light? Not Today
First Light? Not Today
Earlier I mentioned that it is "generally held" that the first rays of sunrise hit Cadillac Mountain. That's the case for half the year as Cadillac only sees the first rays of light in the fall and winter, when the sun rises in the southeast. During most of the spring and summer, the sun rises first on Mars Hill, 150 miles to the northeast of Cadillac. For a few weeks around the equinoxes, the sun rises first at West Quoddy Head in Lubec, Maine, the easternmost town in the United States.
