Jackson Lake Near Signal Mountain Lodge
Even though a dam is present at Jackson Lake, it is a natural lake. The dam was added to increase the holding capacity of the lake. As a result of the increased holding capacity the top 33 feet of the lake is allocated to potato farmers in Idaho. The lake sits at over 6,700 feet in elevation and is one of the largest high altitude lakes in the US - length is 15 miles, width as wide as 7 miles and a depth of 438 feet. The lake is fed, principally by the Snake River.
