Columbines in American Basin
Columbines in American Basin
American Basin is one of those rare locations that has attained "legend" status in the wildflower world. Located in the San Juan Mountains near Cinnamon Pass, American Basin has earned it's reputation among the top wildflower locations in the US. Handies Peak, a "fourteener" in the San Juan range of southwestern Colorado (14,053 feet) is the mountain rising on the left hand side of the image. It is the 41st highest mountain in Colorado. American Peak (13,806') is the imposing mountain in the background.
