Doug Beezley Photography | Starry Nights | Badwater Basin & the Milky Way

Badwater Basin & the Milky Way
Badwater Basin & the Milky Way
This is the final image of the night - it's nearly 4 am and soon the eastern sky will start to lighten with the upcoming sunrise.

The polygons are salt and most are 3 - 6 feet on their longest dimension. We had to hike out onto the basin over a mile to find reasonably intact polygons. It was a tough hike but well worth it. The greenish hue slightly above the horizon is "airglow" and is naturally occurring in varying intensity in the night sky.
