Doug Beezley Photography | Starry Nights | Milky Way - Rocky Mountain National Park

Milky Way - Rocky Mountain National Park
When fully visible, the Milky Way presents itself as an arc in the sky. It's early in the night (about 11 pm) and it will be another hour plus before we can see the arc - and, it will be directly overhead and impossible to capture with our cameras given our location. But, you can see the gentle curve starting to make itself evident.

This was a most difficult shoot for all the reasons outlined in the previous image plus the constant parade of vehicles on Trail Ridge Road ruined many an exposure with their headlights. More than half of my exposures were rendered unusable because of severe light pollution from vehicles - our location was literally next to the highway.
